Emeg designed, manufactured and commissioned a batch of proprietary Emeg e-Shore™ 440V Mobile Shore Supply Units for Great Western Railway, including deployment at Taunton Depot.
The units provide external 400V three-phase power to trains stabled in depots, stations and sidings, allowing onboard electrical systems to remain operational while diesel engines are switched off, significantly reducing noise and emissions.
Designed exclusively by Emeg, the e-Shore™ range combines advanced safety features with full compliance to current Network Rail standards, providing a reliable and sustainable shore power solution for modern rail operations.

Project Challenges
The project required every unit to meet the latest Network Rail standards for 400V three-phase AC Shore Supply Equipment, incorporating integrated safety testing, continuous earth fault and leakage monitoring, and load limiting.
